A summary of the Paint’s properties:

Supplied as a ready-to-use powder, the Paint is a patented* 100% solids, acrylic polymer-modified, water-based, clean air, inorganic surface coating that

the Paint is a ‘Clean Air’, long-life, high build, essentially mineral paint applied just like normal paint and guaranteed for 20 years* (*conditions apply).

• It is made available in ANY colour but is not available as a clear coating.

• It’s a polymer modified, inorganic surface coating, Patent No: PCT AU2005 / 000466.

• In addition to its long life, one of it’s most important properties is its exceptionally high fire / flame retardancy. It will not ignite, has NIL flammability and stops fire/flames from spreading to protect the underlying material from burning. Tested by AMDEL Industrial Services, Adelaide, South Australia (SA), Australia in 2001 (Final Report 1AM0563 of 9/10/01) to ASTM D1630-1995 “Standard Test method for Fire Retardancy of Paints”.

• The following aspects are other important properties of the product: the Paint being an inorganic mineral coating, has ultra high UV and oxidation resistance. It is therefore, beneficially different to most conventional paints that are bound together with organic resins derived from crude oil which are degraded by UV radiation.

the Paint is supplied as a powder having 100% paint solids, so that when mixed into water which is the reactant - not intended as an evaporating solvent, each coat or layer of the resultant liquid paint applied, is therefore not reduced in thickness by evaporating solvents as is the case with most conventional paints. the Paint therefore provides one of the highest dry film thicknesses (dft) of all paints for its maximum longevity and for it to provide high protection for the underlying substrate to which it is firmly adhered.

the Paint typically applied by say brush or roller at 3.5 - 4m2/litre, it will have a dry film thickness (dft) of about 250 microns (μm) per coat; 500 microns with two coats. This is about five times greater than most other paint products. Therefore, from this aspect alone, it lasts longer than many conventional paints, which are typically only 100μm dft for two coats!

• Ability provides a guaranteed for 20 years* (*conditions apply) against flaking, lifting and peeling when the Paint is mixed and applied per Ability’s recommendations to a vertical surface.

• Applied and hardened, the Paint is hard and tough but also flexible. This elasticity combined with its high adhesion and very low shrinkage properties, means there is very little risk of it cracking, lifting or flaking over its exceptionally long lifetime.

• Being a clean air paint product it is environmentally-friendly, and very much in keeping with the principles of Ecologically Sustainable Development (ESD). NO Volatile Organic Compounds (VOC’s) or greenhouse gases are emitted.

• Available from Ability - E-Spheres® - tiny macro and microscopic, very hard, hollow lightweight but strong ceramic balls are used in the manufacture of the Paint. These provide it with the ideal qualities of high thermal and acoustic insulation as well as helping together with other factors to provide it with exceptionally high abrasive wear and impact resistance.

• Being watertight the Paint is highly water and weather resistant. It also has a high relatively stable pH (11.6). This alkalinity provides exceptionally high protection against corrosion of reinforcing metals from any water permeation, and corrosive salt solution attack to concrete underneath it’s two (2) thick firmly adhering coating layers. As rusting of ferrous metals can’t occur at this pH this unique high thickness, waterproof paint therefore, gives protection against the rusting of iron and steel, particularly steel reinforced concrete slabs, units and structures.

the Paint gives a stipple textured, matte finish which assists amongst other factors in providing when applied to trafficked surfaces the highest resistance to skidding and slipping - especially in wet conditions. Ask for independent laboratory test results.

• The smooth version of the Paint with similar properties is called X55 Hi-Seal paint.

• The ultra smooth version is called Durosheen®.
