the Paint
The Long life, high build, mineral coating with a matt textured finish.
the Paint is one of Ability’s Geo® Paints coatings range, which are all polymer-modified inorganic mineral formulations guaranteed to have exceptionally high adhesion, resistance to UV radiation, oxidation, abrasion, skidding, slipping and paint degrading chemical solutions.
Supplied as a ready-to-use powder, the Paint is a patented* 100% solids, acrylic polymer-modified, water-based, clean air, inorganic surface coating that delivers an exceptionally durable, UV-resistant, matt finish with a slight stippled texture.
Available in a choice of ‘standard’ colours, or as a custom colour-matched product in almost any colour, the Paint utilises internationally-patented E-Sphere® technology to assist in delivering outstanding wear-resistant and low slip/skid hazard performance, whilst also improving both thermal and acoustic insulation properties.
Developed with a focus on ESD, the Paint is easy and safe to use, contains no VOC’s (Volatile Organic Compounds) and does not emit climate-warming ‘greenhouse’ gasses.
Use with:
Suitable for use on both vertical and horizontal surfaces, the Paint provides a protective and decorative coating for walls, floors, roofs, decks, steps, stairs, ramps and pavements, as well as for structures and items that will be permanently submerged in water or seawater.
the Paint can be applied to almost any type of stable, firm, sound and clean surface, including:
• Concrete (including recently placed, high alkaline,
• high pH concrete)
• Mortar (including existing wall rendering/plastering and floor/wall fairing mortars)
• Asphalt and bitumen emulsion sprayed pavement surfaces
• Fibre cement panels and planking
• Masonry
• Wood
• Iron, steel and a range of other suitably prepared metal surfaces.
Benefits:
Developed with a focus on durability and performance, the Paint delivers a range of benefits, including:
• 100% solids formulation can provide an extremely high protective Dry Film Thickness (DFT) up to 500μm for the recommended two (2) coats
• Exceptionally high UV, oxidation, weathering and chemical resistance
• Watertight formulation provides protection against water permeation and corrosive salt/chemical solution ingress
• Attractive slightly-stippled texture finish assists in the Paint providing high resistance to skidding and slipping
• Combines hardness, flexibility and excellent adhesion with very low shrinkage, thereby reducing the risk of the applied product cracking, lifting or flaking
• Easy-to-use and apply with normal paint application equipment
• Has low odour and does not give off noxious gasses
• Can be used with a variety of application methods to provide various architectural and/or decorative effects
• Delivers exceptionally high levels of abrasion and wear resistance
• Can be colour matched to almost any colour for a project
• An anti-corrosive paint that helps iron and steel to resist rusting
• An excellent product used to rectify rain-damaged, pitted concrete pavements and suspended slabs.
• Extremely durable - guaranteed for 20 years against flaking, lifting and peeling when applied as recommended to a vertical surface.
Usage and Application:
Supplied as a ready-to-use, 100% solids powder, the Paint should be thoroughly mixed (using a power mixer) into the specified quantity of clean potable water (drinking water) just prior to application.
the Paint should be applied liberally and uniformly to the prepared surface, which should be clean, sound and lightly but uniformly dampened prior to application.
the Paint can be applied using most standard painting/application methods, including brush, roller, broom, sponge and/or spray (using suitable equipment). For maximum protection, two coats are recommended for most applications. When applied, the Paint becomes 'touch-dry' in approximately 1.5 hours at 23°C and 50% RH (Relative Humidity). At this stage it should be gently hosed with clean tap water to assist with curing and hardening. For maximum protection, it is recommended that this water spray-curing technique be carried out several times intermittently over the following 2-3 days.
Dosage Rates:
Recommended mixing proportions for the Paint are 3 parts the Paint powder to 1 part clean potable (drinking) water by volume.
Compatibility:
the Paint is suitable for use on most clean, prepared and stable vertical and horizontal substrates.
For surfaces that have been previously coated and/or treated with other products, please contact Ability Building Chemicals Co for further information.
Packaging:
the Paint is supplied in 20kg pails.
Coverage:
On average, the coverage rate for a 20kg pail of the Paint is 30-35m2 x 2 coats.
Storage:
For maximum shelf-life, the Paint should be stored in its original container, out of direct sunlight, in appropriate, dry conditions. When kept dry and stored under low humidity conditions in its original unopened container, the Paint has a storage shelf life in excess of 12 months.
Precautions:
the Paint is a non-hazardous, non-flammable, non-explosive substance and is classed as a non-dangerous good, however, it is recommended that the following Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and precautions are followed when handling and using the product:
• Wear full overalls, gloves safety goggles and a dust mask during mixing
• Avoid skin and eye contact
• Always wash hands before eating, drinking, smoking or using the toilet.
